KILLARNEY
Located in one of the more beautiful places in this country, Killarney was once part of the iconic Victoria River Downs Station – formerly the world’s largest pastoral property.
Killarney Station was purchased in 2014 and the herd of 40,000 has since been improved with the inclusion of bulls from the Cloncurry district and heifers from Jumbuck’s Meda and Blina stations in the Kimberley.
The area has a strong connection to its Aboriginal history and century-old pastoral antiquity. It’s an ancient landscape that demands respect, and in the blistering heat, it’s as tough as it is rewarding.
The stock camp convenes in March and staff on Killarney work incredibly hard until November, with work then shifting to maintenance over the offseason when the monsoonal rains come through. To muster, R22 helicopters are used and aided by stock men and women on horseback.
The homestead frequently host BBQs and is heavily involved in several Rodeo events, such as the Daily Waters Rodeo as well as attending those further afield.
Killarney Station provides an excellent opportunity to visit and work in the beautiful Victoria River District. It is also a chance to be involved in the development of such an iconic property where you will have the opportunity learn invaluable skills. It’s exhilarating, rewarding work, in a fast-paced environment.
